Freaking out about not getting in!

Check out Fordham University. NO Greek life.

Based on your description, you might like Wash U, though it may be too far away.

thanks! i appreciate all of your suggestions! any others?

I have visited UR several times and never gotten the sense that Greek life is a dominant force. They do have houses on campus, but I don’t think they dominate the social scene. I think it would be worth it to you to check it out for yourself since it would be a good match for you.

My sister goes to U of R, and while there is a greek scene on campus, it’s not the typical greek scene that you think of, in that it’s not dominating or exclusive, nor is it comprised solely of jocks. If you choose against U of R, it shouldn’t have anything to do with greek life.

Thanks. I appreciate all of your suggestions guys! If anyone else has anything to add, that would be wonderful!

If there is a version of collegeconfidential in Greece, I wonder if there is much handwringing over not being able to find a school without a dominant Greek scene.

UPenn looks to me to be the best match for you. Remember to apply ED to get the legacy boost. I’lll bet you get that acceptance in December!

You might look into Clark University in Worcester, Mass as a safety. Pretty quirky.

Thanks pennboy25… I’m not so sure I will get that acceptance, but I would be SO thrilled! :)

If you soften your location and size criteria, Rice sounds like what you’re looking for. It has residential colleges (hence no Greek system), but a very inclusive social scene. Collaborative, down-to-earth students with lots of faculty interaction, great research opportunities, a beautiful campus and an outstanding freshmen orientation program (O-Week).
