Free Freshman Football Tickets?

I heard freshman get free tickets to the first 5 games. Where do we go to get them?

You purchase them on the web and you'll swipe your Cal1Card ID at the game.... Definitely get them, even if you're not big into football, b/c the games and the cheering section are SOOOOO much fun. No one should miss out on the experience just because the actual game isn't their thing.

wait, so they're not free then? You have to purchase them? is there som sort of discout though... and do sprign admits get them as well?

You get all but a few games (Stanford and USC last year). Those were cheap, so the whoel season ended up being 29 dollars. You can choose to not buy the two games or so that won't be on sale (my guess is Stanford and UCLA) and get the rest of em for free. All this is based on last years situation.

they go up 4 grabs on august 1st right?????

DRab-
So most of the tickets are free for freshman? Does Berkeley send the tickets to us or do we go pick them up somewhere?

you use you ID card... they swipe your card at the gate

Just a note: Last year there were 6 home games and freshmen (those who signed up) were admitted for free in the first five home games of the season. It was "first 5" because the 6th games was against USC, which one purchased for an additional $12. Freshmen had to buy Stanford separately because it was at Stanfurd. This year, as you may or may not know, the Big Game is at Cal and you are going to have to purchase this game separately. Also, there will be a total of seven home games this year, because this is the first year the Pac-10 institutess its revised schedule to include playing against all conference opponents in one season. Thus, it will be a 12-game season instead of 11 (not including our Fiesta Bowl Game). I am not sure how many free games will be allotted for Freshmen this season, but you will be available to sign up in August, so make sure you do that and you'll work from there. Look for the Cal Football tent at Caltopia and buy additional tickets at discounted prices. Here are the home games for 2007:

09/09 Minnesota, 09/16 Portland State, 09/23 Arizona State, 10/07 Oregon, 10/21 Washington, 11/04 UCLA, 12/02 Stanfurd

Glad there's a thread about Football, freakin' FINALLY,

So u just buy your ticket at the game? no advance?

Masha,

The tickets are free for freshmen, but you have to sign up online come August. You MUST sign up early that month to ensure that you get the tickets. There is only a certain number of seats allotted to freshmen, as there is finite seating in the Student Section which makes up only two of the stadium's sections. If you sign up for free freshmen football tickets, that will cover MOST of the home games, except for more high demand games like Stanfurd and maybe (but probably not) UCLA. These games (Stanfurd and UCLA) must be purchased separately as well as away games. Your signing up in August is your "advanced purchase"; the Cal account system registers your "purchase" onto its system so you can just swipe your Cal ID at the door at gametime. That way, it allows for ticketless entry and ensuring only currently enrolled students into the Students Section.

Hope that clears things up,
