Free Iliad from Columbia Alumni?

<p>I read this somewhere on the forum and wanted to know if its true that firstyears get a free Iliad? (gasp!)</p>

<p>And as a side note, what type of laptop would you guys recommend?
My old one is dyyying.</p>

<p>Yes, you get a free Iliad. Hopefully they won't stiff you on the translation.</p>

<p>And get an Apple so when your new one breaks you can take it down to 59th to get it fixed for free vs. shelling out $300 so some shady guys can fix your Dell in a closet next to Penn Station...no...that never happened to me...twice...</p>

<p>definitely get an IBM thinkpad. the things are indestructible and have good parts. </p>

<p>Whatever you do, don't get a Dell laptop - their desktops are good, but everyone i know with a dell laptop (5 or 6 people) has had things go horribly wrong. hard drive failures, screen malfunctions, driver errors, things melting or crashing all over the place... it's been a wreck.</p>

<p>Good think I read your post. I was just about to order one. I can't go with mac though because I wanna play some vid games. I guess it's either IBM or some no name brand.</p>

<p>Pear, are you talking about CS:S because some of the macbook pros can run it well. The problem with that is that they're the ones that cost 1600+</p>

<p>I got mine at some admitted student function they threw in July. There was a big "handing over of the Iliads" ceremony in Hamilton and everything. If you don't go to one of those, I think yours comes in the mail.</p>

<p>now back to computers....i think sony is pretty good too for laptops....HP seems to make pretty solid laptops as well though they tend to be a bit bulkier than others. A laptop is a pretty good idea, i wish i had one, but i also can't imagine not having a desktop.</p>

<p>Guys, I wanna play like Fifa, The Godfather, GTA, NFS, Scarface, etc... My crazy CS and UT times are over now, haha... and WOW is too expensive and time consuming.</p>
