Do cal poly engineering students get windows vista for free? Im going to buy a computer soon so thats why I need to know.

I dont see a mention of that anywhere..though it would be pretty cool no doubt. Unless you're building a computer desktop from parts, most $400-500 range pcs/laptops now have vista preinstalled.

Cal Poly students enrolled in either the College of Business or in computer science, software engineering, or computer engineering could check out a copy of Windows XP or Vista (and other MS software, such as Visual Studio, Visio, and Project) from MSDNAA (through the College of Business). Checking out software for a few days is free (you borrow a disk for two days), but you can also purchase the software for a small charge (for Vista, it's $15 + shipping).

The computer science department has its own agreement with MSDNAA, but you can only purchase disks through there, rather than check out disks. However, since CSC students are eligible for the College of Business's agreement, they can check out a disk through that program.
