Hi, are there any finalists from Japan?

I’m a finalist from Thailand, for those that already had the interview, how did it go, was it like interviews at other universities? Did they ask difficult questions? And how is the cocktail dinner? Is it light food, are you supposed to have eaten a decent meal before you’ve come?

Hi slslsl! Im a finalist from Indonesia as well! So I guess we’re gonna meet each other on the 23rd haha. what school are you going to?

Hi! I’m a finalist too (From Malaysia).

Interview is tomorrow, with Terri Overton.

Any tips, those who have already had your interview?

@skeriss,
hi, I’m a finalist from China, just had the interview yesterday with Alice Hadler
The Freeman interview is nothing different from normal college interviews; be ready to introduce yourself, talk about your ECs and they may ask questions based on your essay for Freeman Addendum. There would also be two alumni in the room asking questions.
The interview lasts 30 mins for each student.
This is the case in China, it might be different in Malaysia. But just relax, have a good night sleep, and remember to smile during the interview.

@lc93430 do they make a big deal out of “Why Wesleyan”? Should you go prepared to speak extensively about the professors and the courses there, or more about yourself and what you do in school and in ECs?

@lc9430

Thank you so much, the interview was almost exactly as you described it, only slight variances in the questioning style, but I put that down to individuality.

@Drelnis

I didn’t even get asked why Wes, only how I heard about Wes. Where are you from?

@skeriss I’m from Thailand and will have my interview this Sunday :)

How was the cocktail reception for you?

@Drelnis

It was really fun - I got to speak to some Wes alumni and the other finalists. I’m the only female finalist so that was odd, but it was still great fun.

I was too hyped up to eat!

skeriss:

Ya…just became aware that I was not asked on “Why Wes” as well.

Nice meeting you in KL. :)

And I think I have become quite fond of the school after the interview…

I’m about to go for mine, leaving the house in 2 hours :D

Good luck Drelnis :D

We Vietnamese finalists will have our interview on March 1st. We seem to be the last ones :D

anyone has any idea when we will be notified about the decision?
I became so fond of Wesleyan after the interview and reception.
Just wondering, does the final decision mainly depend on the interview? cuz I thought it was rather casual, more like a “get to know you” session, similar to other alumni interviews,which have little to no influence on the admission result.
any thoughts?

It’s said on Wesleyan website that the decision is available on April 1st.

Ms. Terri told us tonight that we’ll hear back BEFORE April 1st, at the end of March. Anyone else (finally) is a finalist from Thailand? :D

I just heard that the actual winner will be notified by mid-March while others will have to wait until end-March. Has anyone here heard about the same thing for previous years?

Uncreatively - Yes, it was I had loads of fun at the cocktail party and meeting you guys (the other finalists) was just amazing.

Flaschengeist - Is that true? Dean Overton said that they’ll send decisions out around the 26th of March.
