french ap anyone?

How much did everyone write? I wrote about 2 pages and a half.
I thought the listening was the easiest and the verbs as tough as it will get. It wasn't horrible. Nice confidence boost for those monster APS; BIO! GOV! USH!

I talked about an MUN debate (the teamwork aspect of it) and about a leadership camp. I'm sure I'll get a solid 9 on the essay - no question! The reading sucked.... For some reason, the listening was more difficult than those I had practiced. There was BARELY any time between rejoinders for you to consider the answer choices. In fact, I feel the time between the rejoinders was kinda random and inconsistent - sometimes there seemed to be a few seconds more, other times, it would go RIGHT to the next one! The fill-ins were SOOO easy!! I was debating over "dont" and "duquel" for one of them and I couldn't make up my mind if the 3rd person plural, present form of venir was "viennent" or "vienent" (2 n's v. 1 n). I kept going back and forth, and finally chose the wrong 1. I should have trusted myself. Haha w/e... I won't die if I get a 4. Afterall, a 740 on the SAT II already gets me the same credit and placement a 4 OR 5 on the AP exam would get me. So, it really doesn't matter to me at all. Really, it's just the personal satisfaction of doing well that will count for me in the end :)

How the hell are you guys saying listening was easy. Seriously I guess on 75% of the questions. The first dialogue I thought they were going to read the story twice, so when they read it the first time I didn't pay to much attention (it was about telephoning a cousin or something) and had to randomly guess.

Reading was pretty easy to me. I only left one blank but that was because of time, I think most of my marks will come from there.

I wrote close to 2 pages. My french teacher said it only had to be 250 words and mine was defintely 500.

Also was that one fill in the very first one on the verbs viens or vennaient?

Jon, I thought the "viennent" one was "sont venus"

Oooohhhhh.....god. AP French seriously raped me.

I did all of the following:
-Froze up during speaking
-Skipped half the passages
-Guess on half of the listening
-Didn't finish the essay
-Guessed half the questions I answered for reading
-Generally got raped by the exam.

I'm estimating a 1 or 2, 3 if I'm REALLY lucky.

IhateCA, you have to be REALLY lucky to get a 3 from what you've said (a really lucky guesser). It's good to be optimistic though. And maybe the curve won't be too bad??

Zach, AHHH I don't remember now about the "viennent" one... but usually I'm like 100% about my fill-in answers. It's very rare when I'm not sure. Even if it was "viennent" I got it wrong considering I spelled it "vienent" stupidly! Sigh oh well... it won't make that much of a difference. Do you remember the "dont" or "duquel" one? Which was it?? (This isn't for the very first fill-in... which I put down as "dont"), this is for the first blank of the 3rd fill-in passage. Any clues??

And does anyone have the scoring guidelines for calculating one's scores? If so, PLEASE post!

One of my examples for the essay:

-A partner and I were working on a project and had to choose a color for a paper. She suggested purple, I said, "No--it makes me think of my father." Therefore, she understood that I don't have a good relationship with my father.

AHAHAHA--not only is a bad example; it couldn't be farther from the truth

I put "dont" for that one. There was one that said "passer ___ quelqu'un" (it wanted to say, "pass by someone")--what did you put?

Hahaha what?? Wow... I guess the Exam really got to ya Zach. I didn't make up my examples. I'm sure I got a 9, so I'm not worried about the essay at all.

OH, in fact, I was so upset/overwhelmed during the MC section that I was just looking forward to the FR section SOO BAD b/c I knew I could dominate on it! And I did! I aced the fill-ins, I aced the essay, and I probably aced or was close to acing the speaking. So from this, if the fill-ins, essay, and speaking constitue 50% of the grade, I know I got AT LEAST a 3. I'm sure I got a good portion of the MC right, so I'm positive I am looking at at least a 4, and very possibly a 5. Who knows. If someone would post the grading guidelines, I'd feel a lot more secure about it. :D

Hmmm... I really don't remember that one. You have to remind me about the general passage or else I might not be able to recall.

Do you remember the "atterrir" one? I changed back and forth on it as well!

You mean the past participle? atterri

Yeah, I knew that, but I'm asking what you put for that blank. I think I put "avoir atterri" which is the infinitif pass

What do you think the curve's going to be like this year?

I dunno!! I've been asking all along for someone to post a previous year's cruve/grading info, but no one has yet! Zach, do you have any previous years' info?? If so, please post it!!!

I calculated this the other day:

-35/42 listening
-34/40 reading
-6/7 essay
-27/30 fillins
-23/25 speaking

Still gets you a 5

I know that it was out of 160 (so 40 a section), and I think a 122 got you a 5. So probably 75%ish?

Ummm... do you mind maybe posting the info you USED to arrive at your inferences? I'd like to calculate my chances based on how I felt I did on each section. Je te remercie :)

It was avoir atterri right?

I just did the calculations in class w/ my teacher's paper, so I don't have it with me, sorry. There's probably a way of finding it online, though.

I agree with zachsta on the answers to those fillins. I thought the reading was definitely the hardest section, but the rest seemed okay. I was surprised that the essay question was so easy compared to other ones I've seen, although it was kind of sappy and boring. The test was pretty much what I expected since I took the practice ones in Barrons. I'm hoping for a 4 or a 5, and good luck to everyone else!

Ok, although this seems painfully obvious:

Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking EACH count for 1/4 of the final grade.

So, considering I did kinda well on the Listening (maybe 50% - 75% of the listening right) and anywhere from 50% - 75% of the reading correct and 95%-100% of both Writing and Speaking, I think I'm looking at anywhere from a high-range 4 to a mid-range 5. If only I had the actual scoring guide to be sure. Oh well... w/e ;)
