French AP Speaking Portion

I’ll be taking the AP French exam in a few weeks and I had a few questions on the speaking portion.

  • What topics should I read up on for the cultural comparison? In class, we’ve done some practice cultural comparisons and they’ve been topics that I have no knowledge on regarding them in Francophone nations. For example, yesterday, the topic was “Compare and Contrast the attitude of teenagers and children towards grandparents.” I chose to compare India and France, but I had no idea at all about this culture in France.

For my class, we’ve done food, transportation, telocommunications, sports, the roles of women, etc. If you know even a little bit about the country’s political/social/economic climate then you can probably figure out its position on these things. For instance, I’ve been comparing the U.S. and Côte d’Ivoire all year, and even when I hadn’t learned about the Ivorian culture in a given aspect, I could still do pretty well on the cultural comparison because I know about it from a more general standpoint. It also helps to know a couple of applicable random things about it so it seems like you know it really well, like for the sports one I talked about Yaya Touré and Didier Drogba, Ivorian soccer players. Good luck next week

Thanks! Touré and Drogba are two of the best footballers…true legends. I admire Drogba, especially because he plays for my team, Chelsea! Do you follow football?
So I’ve been comparing cultures between Canada and India like I said, so what could I say for the prompt I posted in the original thread message?
And are you taking the AP French exam next week?
