Freshman Admission Rate Fall 2008

<a href="http://students.berkeley.edu/admissions/general.asp?id=2840&navid=N%5B/url%5D">http://students.berkeley.edu/admissions/general.asp?id=2840&navid=N</a></p>

10,430 of 48,409 = 21.5%

Last year, it was a 23.2% admissions rate.

If Berkeley's target incoming class size is the same as Stanford, imagine the admit rate!

I really thought they would lower the amount admitted this year because instate tuition is looking good right now......but they increased offers by 200........something tells me this might come and bite berkeley in the butt when its grossly overenrolled next year.

And they increased registration fees, yet again.

Public education at its best...

Also why is there a noticeable discrepancy between the percentage of freshman admits and transfer admits? Why is the difference ~5%?

it shud b smaller plz

This forum should conduct it's own admission rate. Who got in and who didn't, and tally up the proportion like that!

Yes, it's ridiculous. Our classes are already overcrowded and dorm living is horrendous.

"Also why is there a noticeable discrepancy between the percentage of freshman admits and transfer admits? Why is the difference ~5%?"

Because everybody needs a second chance. Transfer students don't have another shot at transferring again, whereas those who are rejected as freshman do.

transfer admissions are done by major.

How many spring admits were there...approx. 2k?

Many of those transfers are coming from CCCs as well, keep in mind.

10k....ugh, does that mean more tripling up for housing?

there will definitely be some major conversion of doubles to triples due to clark kerr renovation is my guess
