Freshman Architecture Hometest

Hey guys, I just got the hometest, and I just wanted to put a post up asking around what you guys are doing.

One of my questions is, Do they expect you to leave it in a stapled format, or do they want you to reinvent the display?

The prompts are so intense and conceptual, so use this post to your advantage! Good luck!!!

Hey I just got my hometest as well. I unstapled mine but I’m keeping everything in order.

Hope it’s coming along well. Good LUCK!

Hey everyone! Here’s my question: Do we HAVE TO draw on the grids provided by the hometest? Can’t we work on some other material? Obvoiusly respecting their format…I’m talking especially about questions 7,8 and 9 on the architecture hometest.

What do you guys think?

gian810- I was wondering about the same thing too. I’m not really sure… ):
I was also wondering if they allow us to photo copy our drawings and post it on the test paper? Especially for #4, where they ask you to rip your drawings.
Also, did you guys do everything in 2D?

I mean the test says that all work must be presented ON the formatted sheets so i doubt they are looking for anything in 3D…

oh, well i was thinking maybe you have things sticking out. i don’t know. anyways, so have you guys photo copy your drawings to paste it on the test paper? or did you guys actually rip your original drawings?
also, about the info page, does cooper union want our super sat score? weighted GPA? what does most recent/quarterly high school average mean? our midyear reports (fall semester GPA)?
thanks :)

hi guys. I’m doing the hometest too and I’m on question 4, but i wonder, do we paste only one fragment on the page, or do we paste multiple? the grid gives us 9 squares, so i was kinda under the impression that they want one fragment per square. how did you guys approach it? thanks

My personal opinion is that they want us to stick on there just one single fragment

Hello~! the deadline for submission of the hometest is 25th February. Is this the post deadline or the reception deadline?

That’d be the reception deadline.

They basically keep the instructions very vague, so that you can really do whatever you want. I called in, and they basically said the sky’s the limit, as long as everything fits in the envelope.

@misstrwbrylvr: you have to actually rip one of your drawings. It really does suck, but it’ll be worth it.

Hey guys what’s up. Everyone’s quiet over here, let’s start making noise about the home test, it’s 02/26 already everyone by now should have sent their Architecture home test. Now we just have to wait 4-5 weeks, honestly we don’t have to wait, let’s party these free months we have before going back to work. SO… STRESS OFF AND GO VISIT AS MANY PLACES AS YOU CAN.

Hey guys!
Could you please post the prompts here for all of us who are planning to apply in upcoming years?

Thanks! :]

arch21th- i feel the same way as you do! but unfortunately, im behind in my classes since i couldnt study well while taking this home test ): i gotta catch up but im still relaxing a bit!

so have you guys received any notice about cooper union receiving your home test? im kind of anxious about them receiving it on time even though it arrived in NY on the 24th xD
