I have an incoming freshman to Vanderbilt that has a birthday in early October. Does anyone have any ideas of bakeries or other places that might deliver treats to the dorm for a birthday?

There’s a Gigi’s Cupcakes on Broadway close to campus.

I sent my daughter a cake from Dulce Desserts. I can’t recall if they deliver but she loved the cake! If not Gigis is right there and their cupcakes are delicious!

Thanks, everyone for the ideas, this should work nicely.

I love Gigi’s, but D commented last year that she thought she liked the new Cupcake Collection shop in Germantown better. Gigi’s is very icing heavy. There is a Jeni’s ice cream shop on 21st St. (Hillsboro Village) and their ice cream is out of this world delicious! You might be able to call and arrange for your freshman to come with friends for an ice cream break and have it charged to your credit card.

Look up Jake’s Bakes… They deliver fantastic warm cookies and milk, and the greatest thing is, they do delivery until midnight. Meaning you could surprise your kid with warm chocolate chip cookies at midnight on his birthday. You can imagine this is a popular service for students studying on campus! Most freshman don’t even know about it.

Anyways Gigi’s makes great, giant cupcakes. It is like half a pound of icing though…

I ordered Edible Arrangements for my D’s special occasions. I prepaid, and she just walked across the street to the store on Elliston to pick it up.

During my D’s freshman year, we had a local bakery (her favorite) ship her a cake from home packed with dry ice. She was very happy to have a taste of home. GiGi’s cupcakes are good, but they do have a LOT of icing, and the kids can easily get them on a regular basis if they want.
