Freshman Class Aug 2011 STATS

Florida Atlantic University received more than 22,000 applications for fall, 2011, nearly DOUBLE the year before. FAU has exceeded its admissions goals for the 2011 freshman class by admitting more than 3,600 students for classes beginning in August, an increase of 19 percent. This freshman group is the largest in the University’s history, and is made up of students with a higher average score on the SAT and ACT, as well as a higher average cumulative G.P.A.

For the 2011 admittance class, the average G.P.A. was a 3.55, with the average SAT score of 1625 and the average ACT score of 24. One year ago, the admitted class averaged a 3.4 G.P.A., 1600 on the SAT and 23 on the ACT.

Academic programs have been complemented by collaborations with world-class research institutes and industry leaders, including Scripps Florida, the Max Planck Florida Institute and Torrey-Pines. In addition, FAU’s Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine was granted preliminary accreditation by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education to offer an independent medical education program, which will welcome its charter medical school class in fall 2011.

Phase two of the student wellness and rec center is complete, Phase one of Innovation Village is nearly complete, with two high rise apartment buildings housing a total of 1200 beds opening in Aug for upperclassman, with it's own pool. The 30,000 seat stadium (including boxes, suites, club seats, and amenities) will open in October.

Phase II of Innovation Village, by the way, will have another apartment high-rise with 1,200 student beds, two parking garages with retail on the bottom floor (shops, restaurants, student services) and should open in the next 1-3 years.

Greek Housing shouldn’t be too far off either. The committee is visiting Greek Housing setups at peer institutions to determine what style would be the best fit for FAU’s campus.

what were the act and gpa ranges of applicants who were rejected?
