Some Numbers to Keep in Mind

Here are some admissions numbers from the 2013 State of the University Address:

"We set another new record for the size of our freshman class as we welcomed 3,492 first-time-in-college students here on the Boca campus and in the Honors College on the Jupiter campus.

These kids came to us with solid academic credentials as well, with an average high school GPA of 3.43, average SAT score of 1546 and average ACT score of 22.

Please note, too, that the percentage of out-of-state students jumped 56 percent, which shows great progress toward our goal of enrolling more freshmen from outside Florida.

As always, our incoming class of Honors College students is made up of real super-stars. There are 112 new students in the Honors College, with an average GPA of 4.16, an average SAT score of better than 1877 and an average ACT score of more than 28. Their arrival brings the total Honors College population to 316."

Also, for 2012-2013, FAU received 28,195 applications and admitted 11,102 (39%). Your chances for Admission were highest for Spring semester (74%) followed by Summer (47%) and the usual Fall (36%).

In addition, Community College Transfers had an admission success rate of 61%.

If ytou have any additional questions about requirements, minimums or averages, check out the FAU Freshman Requirements page here:

My daughter’s target school is the University of Alabama. She has a 3.6/4.3 weighted gpa and a 29 on the ACT. FAU is going to be a safety because we live in a western suburb of Ft. Lauderdale and I believe that she should apply here and at UMiami in case she stays local for some reason.

My question is this- In order to be in the honors college will she have to commute to Jupiter? That is an hour away. Boca is feasible, but I don’t think that Jupiter is at all.

Thanks!

I am an FAU student, and I have two friends who are in the honors college at the Boca Raton Campus… I am sure your daughter can be in the honor campus if she meets the requirements!!!

She would have to commute to Jupiter, yes.

FAU flirted with the idea of having Honors classes on the Boca campus but to date I don’t think anything has come of that.

It’s kind of an isolated world in Jupiter. They’re tight-knit, small number of on-campus residents, small classes… it’s a different vibe than Boca and not the traditional college experience up there.
