Freshman classes at umich

Hi I’ll be starting my first semester of college at u of m Ann Arbor this fall. I was just wondering what current students at umich think of this schedule, if the workload is too much, and if you have any tips or suggestions.

Math 116
Physics 140/141
English 125
And I’m also in MRC so I have to take ALA 104

Thank you!

I’d look at rate my professor for class selection.

I think that is a reasonable schedule. Take advantage of MRC’s academic resources to get a leg up in your classes.

Could you explain what academic resources MRC has. Sorry I’m just nervous with my schedule and transitioning into the college life.

Calc 2 and physics are weeder classes but i think you will be fine as long as you expect that you are going to have to work a lot harder. Mrc provides research seminars and mentors

Do you think it would be easier for me to swap physics with EECS 183?

What major are you? I am not sure about eecs i heard its also hard

This might sound odd because they are both completely different, but I am debating between going into medicine or transferring to CoE

@uofm21

MRC literally pays students to serve as study group tutors in MoJo during the evenings. Take advantage of that.

You can do engineering on the premed track. It’s a great backup option in case you don’t get into medical school. However, it will be very hard to maintain a high gpa in engineering. What can you see yourself doing the most?
