Freshman Course Load

I have the credits to place out of math 1910 in the first semester but I think I'm still gona take it just to ensure that I have a very solid calculus foundation.(I'm doing engineering).

However I heard that I math 1910 is a prerequisite for Phy 1112 which I definitely wana take in first semester.(Have A-level credits to place out of it too but still wana take it). I saw that only rarely are students allowed to take Math 1910 and Phy 1112 at the same time. May I know if my circumstance allows me to take them at the same time?

Also, someone care to share what is FWS about? I see that there is some kind of balloting system involved. Would like to know more information about it.

Thanks alot in advance.

FWS= freshman writing seminar.

In enginereing, you are required to take 2 FWS as a requirement. Most freshmen take one the first semester and another the second semester. You can place out of 1 FWS with a 5 on AP Lang or AP Lit.

The ballot system is used to decide which FWS you will be given. You usually get one of your top 3 choices (out of the 6 you picked).

How about an A for A level General Paper (it’s actually an English Language paper, just under a different name)? Can I place out 1 FWS?

you should place out of 1910. My roommate did so and was better off than other engineers I knew that chose to take 1910 despite their credit.
