I am an entering freshman at UCLA and I would like to try the pre-psycology major although I am still undecided. What would be the best classes to take my first quarter? and is a GE cluster worth taking for this major also?

I have never taken GE clusters since I heard that there are a lot of reading and work involved compared to just taking individual GE courses. Suggestions for classes to take are Psychology 10 and Statistics 10 if they are still open. Psychology 10 probably is and in addition you should just take any 2 GE courses that are open.

idk about psychology and all that, seeing that im class of 2014, but i’ve talked with a lot of my friends that graduated from UCLA and they half took and half did not take the GE clusters. They suggested me not to take the GE Clusters for some reasons
- if you’re stuck with a professor that you don’t like or with a subject you don’t like…you’re stuck with it/him/her for the whole year
- even though you get a lot of GE’s done, it’s a lot easier and better to get it individually from classes, you’ll learn more from it. it even made my friend’s change majors!
- It’s a lot more course work and sometimes the timing is a b*tc4 cause you can NEVER change the time ever, so basically you have to work your future classes around the GE Clusters.

hoped it helped a little?

Take a GE cluster only if the topic interests you. Psych 10, Stats 10, Phil 7, GE Cluster were common courses which people in my class took first quarter. In the following quarters, they took LS 15, Physics 10, Psych 100A.

thank you for all of the help,

I decided not to take a GE cluster and now i’m enrolled in physics 10 with Kusenko and I’m on a waitlist for philos 22 with herman. i wanted to take psych but it was closed. does anyone know anything about these classes/teachers, especially about their grading?
