~Freshman Fifteen!~

Don't worry so much, guys. You'll be walking so much (classes, friends' dorms, going out) you can eat a lot more without gaining weight. I had ice cream for desert every day and if anything lost a few pounds.

perhaps your body was too busy being ravaged by ebola. because that's the only way i could manage to eat ice cream every day and not gain weight.

you could eat a small serving of ice cream, I suppose

no, i cant. i cant give up mayo on my sandwiches or that pat of butter with dinner. i can, however, give up dessert. so I'm already cutting myself slack...

Shoot, I lost weight while I ate a Taco Bell chicken grilled stuffed burrito or taco salad for dinner pretty much every day my junior year. Some people can definitely eat a scoop of ice cream every day and not pack on the pounds.

Taco bell doesn't really have that many calories if you look it up.

yeah taco bell hasnt got much of anything, especially nutrients!

Um...I have a program on my PDA that has the nutrition information for restaurants.

The chicken grilled stuffed burrito has 680 calories, 26 grams of fat, and 76 carbs. The fiesta taco salad has 870 calories, 46 grams of fat, and 82 carbs.

That's not exactly a small amount for one meal...

well the only thing i ever eat when i go there is a plain old bean and cheese burrito...cant have more than 300 calories, which is decent for a meal...and i dont drink soft drinks

The bean burrito has 370 calories, 10 grams of fat, and 55 carbs. Other than the carbs it's not bad.

is that the bean and cheese burrito or the 1/2 lb bean burrito?

I put what it said for a bean burrito (I'm assuming that's the same as the bean and cheese one you're asking about).

It says that the half pound one has 601 calories (kinda random), 21 grams of fat and 82 carbs.

Don't worry as much about the food you eat but more about your eating schedule. Eating irregularly throws your metabolism way out of wack and eating before you sleep is bad as well. As long as you eat on a regular schedule and have some sort of activity in your life you should be fine. And try to avoid sodas and other sugar loaded foods and drinks.

Also avoid the misconception that carbs are bad. Carbs are vital to keeping your metabolism working quickly. Eat carbs after you excersise just try to make sure you are getting it from whol wheat and not white breads.

Carbs aren't bad, true, but too much of a good thing is bad.

I don't see the problem in being aware that fast food is trash. It, along with sodas and booze, are major reasons why so many kids pack on the pounds when they get to college...and before.

That doesn't mean you can't have any of those things (I'll never give up Taco Bell, Taco Bueno, or Quiznos), just that you should be aware of what you're putting in your body.

A big problem is what you drink aka... Soda!

Plus,I think diet soda is a bunch of bs. There's no way that it can taste practically the same as the regular version and just as sweet and be ZERO calories. It most definetly is not healthy for you. Imagine if I created a chocolate chip cookie that was "zero calories" and just put it on the label... then all of a sudden people would believe it and eat it up becuase i had put some sorta splenda junk in it. I seriously doubt that would help or prevent weight gain

littleLis, diet soda does in fact have VERY few calories (it's practically zero) because they put all sorts of chemicals in it.

The difference in taste between diet sodas and sodas is tremendous (at least for me)

Rofl@Lis.

"I don't have any evidence to back this up but they're LYING!"

Fact: Consuming three diet pops in one day containing 0 calories a piece is better for someone trying to lose weight than consuming three pops in one day that contain 150 calories a piece.

Diet soda's do not contain colaries, they are a seperate evil. Just so you know, diet coke is what they use to unclog drains in airplanes. Any soda that can do that, is def going to do worse to your body.

True. But soda, overall, is horrible for you.

I used to drink a ton of coke when I was younger, but when I got sick a few years ago and couldn't drink them anymore, I got used to drinking water, juice and unsweet tea instead. I feel sooooo much better now compared to how I felt before getting sick (and can barely drink a whole can of soda). My skin and hair are a lot healthier as well.
