Thanks!

Try looking into the themed housing! It seems fun! Thats my two cents, sorry ^^.

Housing doesn’t open till April though, right?

I donno, I wanna register for housing asap!

Well, go here:

[New Freshman Application](http://www.housing.ucsb.edu/application/freshman/default.htm)

It says April, but I just want to verify with others that it does for sure mean April haha.

Did anyone here get an email about “Tropicana Gardens Housing”? It seems like its not official student housing, but pretty legit by the way they advertise it. Any input?

Yeah I got that Tropicana Gardens thing too, it looks pretty awesome but I don’t know. Anyone want to input on that?

Tropicana gardens is a privately owned dorm located in Isla Vista a few blocks away from campus. I personally wouldn’t consider it as an option for your first year. It’s fine for someone in their 2nd, 3rd, 4th years.

The benefit of being in the campus owned dorms is that everyone on your floor will be a freshman UCSB student, so there’s a certain camaraderie that develops. If you were to live in Trop, you’d be living with people of various ages from various colleges. It’s not really the best way to develop a new group of friends.
