Freshman in High School, hoping for an ivy

Hello,

As you should be able to tell from the title, I am a freshman in high school. Throughout my school years, I get straight A's (Last year I got a B in Family Consumer Science). Anyway, this year, I've been getting straight A's in advanced classes with the block schedule (Geom Acc., Molecular Biology, French II, and English 9 Accelerated). I currently have a 4.0 in these classes. Next semester, I will be having Algebra II Acc, Geomorphology 3 days a week and Molecular Biology 2 days a week, American History II Acc., and Health. I hope to get a 4.0 in these classes as well. Next year, I am going to be applying to a private school called Shadyside Academy. If I get in, then I will be taking the most advanced courses and will be playing tennis. Hopefully, I can get on the varsity team. I aim to go to an ivy league after high school. My sister goes to UPENN. Will the fact that she goes there help me? I got a 28 on my ACT a few months ago. I don't know my SAT scores, but they were predicted to be 550-700's. So what can I do now to improve my chances of getting into an ivy league?

You should improve your test scores and keep an eye on your GPA for the next three years. If you want to go to UPenn, I think it’s like a legacy of some sort (??). Try to find a passion in something and then choose the college. You certainly have time to do something! Bonne Chance!

Come back here in two or three years.

As rough as that sounds, it’s honestly the best advice you can get. Just work hard and do stuff in school.

a freshman on this website already??? get off this site and have fun! you will start overwhelming yourself, just do well in school and try new things. I personally think that highschool is one of the best experinces in life, next to college, so dont get caught up in the college process just yet. i agree with the above post=)

Yikes! You need to chill out and have some fun. Shadyside is an awesome school. Try something new, find a passion, enjoy life and stop worrying about an Ivy. You may completely change your mind by senior year. Penn may be right for your sister and not you.

Dude. (Or dudette, if that’s the way you roll) You can’t be more than a month into high school–relax. Now is not the time to worry about college. Now isn’t the time to look fantastic for applications–now is the time to gear up for looking fantastic on applications. Join clubs, volunteer–do things you can keep up for four years.
By no means slack off, though–do your best in all four years, freshman included, but don’t run out of steam 1/4 of the way into high school.
Best way to start? Get off CC. Check back in about two years.
