freshman or transfer

I'm an international student at a university in india.I was curious,if I cancel my admission and apply to a US university will I still be a transfer student or a freshman?

Have you taken any classes? If not you’d be a freshman applicant. If you’ve started school it will depend on the college. You’ll need to check each one based on credit hours, etc.

I have taken classes but can I cancel my admission an enroll as a freshman?

if you have earned credit hours, no. you cannot say, “oh, just don’t count those courses I’ve already taken.” It doesn’t work that way.

You need to write to each place that you would like to apply to here, and ask them if you are a freshman or a transfer. Each place sets its own policy. Some will allow you to apply as a freshman if you have not completed a full year of credits. Others will consider you to be a transfer if you have completed just one credit.

If you have just started studying at your university, and you have not completed any classes yet, it might be possible to drop out now and apply in the US as a freshman. However, you still need to ask each of the places on your list about that. Some will want letters from your current university that state that you were in good academic standing when you dropped out.
