My son was perusing agora portal today and accidentally discovered that he has been assigned to resident hall Xavier on Upper campus. However, no roommate or dorm room #/type is indicated yet.

If you are an incoming freshman, please following the instructions below and let us know if you are also able to view your resident hall info:

Go to My Res Life
Click on Web Form
Select My ResLife Bill

My son sees under the description column his assigned resident hall: “UG Room Xavier”

Can we tell if we’re in a forced triple yet (from the bill)? Also, does anyone know the probability of being placed in one if we did not volunteer?

This is just a friendly posting to all the freshies out there. Living on Newton sucks. Plain and simple. You will find yourself looking for reasons that it doesn’t suck and often be like “I guess it’s not that bad.” For guys, you’re nightlife will be tough. Many times during freshmen year, you will be like “I don’t know of any parties going on. Let’s just try to go down to the Mods or off campus and find some sweet parties.” However, you will be a lot less likely to do so when you have to take a 10 minute bus. Also when it’s 1:45am and you’re at a sweet party with a girl around your arms, you will need to drunkenly sprint to catch the last bus at 2am. Oh what’s that? That girl that your dancing with wants to go back to your room with you? Good luck convincing her to take a bus back.

During the winter or even in the morning you will need to plan way ahead to catching the bus. Sometimes you couldn’t even catch it because it was so crowded or it didn’t come.

In my morning calculus class at 9am, there were always these asian boys from China who would often come late to class. These kids were absolutely nerds and intellectual power houses that put academics first and didn’t go out at night. They’d be late to class, because the bus would either take too long, not come, or they couldn’t fit inside and have to wait for the next one.

You will be able to detriple from forced triples if you are lucky and be moved to Newton. People will be trading rooms within the next couple of weeks on Facebook. Posts like “Anyone on Newton want a forced triple on upper? I’m looking to trade.” To put it into perspective, I was friends with a girl from Malibu whose dad was a big LA real estate mogul worth $80 million. She was an absolutely beautiful and nice girl, but really spoiled and the stereotypical rich brat. She has a forced triple on upper campus and traded for double in Keys on Newton. She told me she regretted as a forced triple really wasn’t that bad. I could only imagine that it would be a lot easier for guys.

Plus you save a good amount of money that you can spend to get drunk of Rubinoff!

Trojaneagle:
Given the tone of some of your past replies, I’m not surprised to see another similar sounding post. There is no part of BC or any college that will satisfy everybody. But if something didn’t work for you, isn’t it misleading to imply others will have the same negative attitude?

For anyone who did get assigned to Newton, please read through the numerous Newton discussions in this BC forum. Lots of great objective information.

^^yup. As a parent, I’ve been around BC for the past few years, and have yet to speak with one student who had such a negative rxn to Newton campus. I concur, search cc for numerous threads on the topic, as well as many other points of view (which differ from TrojanEagle; good luck with transfer app).

My daughter got placed in a single dorm at newton. She is very sad about not having a roommate since this was not any of her choices. In addition, when we saw the floor layout she is the only single on that wing.

Can anyone give any thoughts or comments which can ease her anxiety over this.

She’s going to be surrounded by thousands of people that she can become friends with. Interacting with people in her dorm and on Newton is very easy.
