Are freshman seminars generally easier or harder than a comparable regular course?

Freshman seminars are very discussion-oriented, and thus class participation usually factors largely into your grade. The two seminars I took had a lot of reading, and usually 2-3 short essays and 1 final paper at the end. Whether it’s easier or harder depends on what kind of student you are I guess. Normal larger courses generally just have your grade based on a couple midterms and a final exam or paper.
