Freshman Spring 2018 Admission question

Hi, so I applied to BMCC for spring admission as a freshman because it’s the only community college (as far as I’ve researched) that has articulation agreements for the science A.S with both John Jay (Cell and Molecular Biology B.S.) and CityTech (Chemistry) that interested me as far as majors go. I am US citizen that has been living abroad in the Dominican Republic for almost the big majority of my life, as such, when I mailed my documents after submitting the application, I did so with their corresponding translations.

A week after the deadline has passed, I check my portal only to find that it says that I’m missing my high school transcripts, so I instantly assume that none of my other documents had arrived because I sent them all together and it wouldn’t make sense for one to magically disappear. I email CUNY to know if my documents arrived, I was simply told to wait the 4 to 8 (if i’m correct) weeks to know of my status application. Not exactly helpful since it wasn’t what I was asking, even after stating specifically that i wasn’t looking to know if I got accepted or not, I just wanted to know if my documents were there. Even so, I waited about two weeks more, no change.

At this point I call the help desk and got in contact with a counselor, she informs me that my documents never arrived, she asked me for a tracking number to which I sadly did not have in hand at the time since I was never given one (that was my fault, I’ve got it now though), nonetheless, she asks me to send her my documents via email. I did, so now I’m just waiting for my Portal to change.

With this said, when can I expect a decision to arrive or for my portal to change? From what I’ve seen around the forums transfer applications are the first ones to get their decisions notified, and it’s somewhat hard finding someone who’s applying to a cc for spring admission around here so I don’t exactly have something to base off of.

I’m so sorry about your documents getting lost in the mail. That truly sounds horrible.
On the up side, though, I think it will make you feel better to know that CUNY takes FOREVER to tell you whether or not you got accepted because of the fact that they get so many applications. I got nervous too when I first applied because it took them 2 and a half months to get back to me! Sometimes they also don’t update your account online to reflect whether they received documents for days because of the fact that once the school receives it, it takes a while for it to get passed along to the correct department and to finally be looked at by someone. That being said, though, you should definitely keep checking in every couple weeks if you are concerned they are missing documents again, because their automated system can tell you what they have or haven’t received. Overall, they are very slow to respond to things - so don’t fear the worst if they don’t get back to you quickly.
