Can someone please tell me what the procedure is for a new student buying a season football ticket? When does that option become available, is it guaranteed, what is the approximate cost, etc...?

Thanks.

Tickets are in no way guaranteed. I think the season tickets are about $200 for students, that’s home games. I hesitate to give info since the procedure seems to change each year, but generally there’s a “registration” period where you log in and indicate interest, class year and/or credits completed. Later (weeks later, not days) the actual on-line sale begins.

Individual tickets are generally available on campus; ownership is transferred electronically and there is a selling window right before the game (you can’t sell a student ticket months in advance). Student Central always posts the information in plenty of time. S2 has had season tickets every year – although once he was shut out and bought a friend’s entire season. Another good place for PSU info about stuff like that is the PSU Live site run by the U.

I may be wrong, but I think that beginning last year tickets were tied to a student’s ID. It was possible to sell them, but there was some control. This deterred students who were buying tickets just to sell them at a profit and I believe no students got shut out.

1moremom - I think they are tied to IDs. Not impossible to sell, but definitely more difficult. Certainly, that is the problem DS had when his girlfriend came to visit for a game last fall.

Would be nice to hear from someone as to the exact procedure/options available.

I know when I went to buy them for the 2011 football season (or rather my mom did) there was a certain time for each class. So as a Freshman I had the last day but so many tickets are allotted to each class (my understanding) you had to have your ID number and certain information and go on Ticketmaster at whatever the specific time was. They sold out in minutes. They were automatically put onto my student ID and all I had to do was swipe my ID when I went into Beaver Stadium.

It is easy to buy tickets to games if you don’t get student tickets though. The more popular games it is much harder and have to be willing to spend so much. The system has it so that you can only sell it for a certain price or rather you can’t sell it for more. But how people got around that was on facebook they would be like “I’m selling my ticket for ____ price!” and then you meet up and pay them and they transfer the ticket to you! It’s not as complicated as it sounds! My suggestion just do whatever you can to get season tickets. It is cheaper!
