Hey everyone,
I relatively new to this site so I’m not sure if I will even get a response.
Anyways, I’m a freshman at my highschool and my parents have high expectations for me.
The year passed and I am left with a C+ in Honors Bio, C In Algebra 2, and a B in Honors English.
I am very worried this will destroy my GPA and affect my college application. I really want to go to medical school and I fear that’s out of the question now too. I’m very hardworking and quite smart too, the teachers are all difficult and hate me yada yada yada.
Long story short, will this affect my chances of getting into a good college? I have high A’s in all other classes. I’m not sure if I can even raise it now that my GPA is crushed in just freshman year. Should I give up on school or do I still have a chance?
You should definitely not give up on school. You’ve still got loads of potential. What colleges are you talking about, specifically? What constitutes a “good” college? You have to go to a college for undergrad before you go to med school. Are you going to be looking for a lot of scholarship money?
I was aiming for Princeton but now mainly University of Michigan or University of Southern California. And I don’t need any scholarship money at all it’s just that I just need to please my parents with a good school.
Freshman year absolutely matters! BUT, if you can get all A’s from here on out, take some AP classes to even out the two c’s, you could be ok. Basically, for each C, you need an AP to counteract that. SO, take some AP classes (as many as you can) and do well. Start studying NOW for act and sat and take them next year for a benchmark. All of this will offset the c’s. B’s are not that desirable either by the way. ALL A’s needs to be your mantra.
