My freshman year I went to a high school that suffered from severe grade deflation and got a 3.4. But then I transferred to a different high school and now have a weighted 4.875. (6 AP Classes). I don't like to focus too much on grades but I was just curious on how much that freshman year GPA would hurt me for top tier schools? My strength is in my EC but I know that GPA plays a major (but not all important) role in college admissions and so I was curious on what kind of impact that that might have on my chances. Thank you for your time.

my sophomore year i had a weighted 4.3

They will see your progress and be more interested in that and your standardized test scores that okay freshman grades. Don’t stress about that. Just be spectacular and unique and go for it!

Some schools (such as the UCs) don’t count freshman grades. Just continue the progress.

Really depends on the 2 high schools. Lots of kids leave highly competive ones for easier schools. But all colleges, in general, put less emphasis on freshmen year GPA.
