Hi everyone!
My freshmen and sophomore years, I wasn't as committed to school as I am now. The whole college thing seemed important but distant to me.
My weighted GPA for those 2 years was only like 3.7.

I'm a junior right now, and my weighted GPA is 4.0 currently. However, I think I might be able to reach 4.4 by the end of the year if I work hard.

How would it appear to a college to see mid 3's freshman & sophomore year, and then 4.0+ junior year and hopefully even higher senior year?

Would this hurt me applying at top schools? Thanks!!

No. They will see you got serious. Plus you will get them up substantially. Just round out your entire application with ec’s community service and leadership.

I suppose the answer depends on what you mean by “top,” but if you aim sufficiently high, your competition will be mostly students who’ve had grades that high since the beginning of high school. You’ll have to figure out what you have to offer those colleges that will make them want to choose you over those applicants with better grades, and also how to highlight those qualities in your application.

The most damage it will do is show you had a little trouble transitioning, but if your test scores reflect your overall gpa I’m sure you’ll be considered a solid, capable student- and an asset for the school.
