some one on another thread just said that princeton might not count freshman year grades for admission
is this true?

They don't as far as I know include freshman grades in GPA calculations.

I've heard contradictory information on this. I do know that they factor out non-academic (or, rather, non-core-academic) classes before recomputing it, and also remove weighting. I suggest [email=uaoffice@princeton.edu]emailing them to ask about whether they include freshman year grades.

so they get rid of religious classes, gym, and art

Yes. And they recalculate your GPA without freshman year grades. However, they are still indirectly included because they don't re-figure out your rank, which definitely includes them.

What about business courses? Will they factor those out of the GPA?

Most likely.

How bout classes like Anthropology or Psychology?

Probably not...psychology is an actual class, or...it can be, in AP Psych or IB Psych.

For everyone on this thread though--worrying about what they count and what they don't count isn't going to change any of the grades you have thus far. Just keep trying to get good grades and apply with them, because you can't change them. Don't let a poor freshman year dissaude you from applying, but also don't try to figure out how Princeton will recalculate your GPA because none of us really know.

Heh... I did uber good in my Anthro and Psych classes... I want them to count!

Its amazing how learning a completely new discipline can make somebody actually want to pay attention in class and give a good effort...

Uh I have heard rumors, though I doubt it's going to seriously impact your decision. As long as freshman year wasn't filled with C's.
