freshmen dorms

where do freshmen ususally live, who are not in any special programs?

also, if you're in the markets and society program, do you like with other M&S students? or no?

most freshmen live in ****hole claustrophobic dorms. i went to soccer camp at UMD for like 9 summers in a row, and even after a week of staying in those dorms we hated our lives.

Most likely you'll end up in the Denton community. That's Denton, Easton, and Elkton. The Denton community is the scummiest of the dorms at UMD, but it's also the most fun.

That being said, you may end up in the Cambridge Community, or Ellicott.

what's cambridge community like?

how close is the metro to college park campus? Can you walk to it? Is there a bus that runs often? Is it safe?

marylandgirl -- the metro station is a little less than a mile off of campus. there is a bus that runs all day from the union to the north side of the metro station. it's a nice walk from the south side of campus (the other entrance to the metro station is about 8 blocks from route 1) or the fraternity/sorority areas. during the day, the area is very safe. i wouldn't ride the metro alone at night, but i'm from a small town so maybe that's just me.

i havee asthma but its not like bad so they told i could stay at laplata...should i? because i heard its like mainly sohpmores and i dotn want to miss the freshman party scene =)

The heat in the freshie highrise dorms can be unbearable - why dont you think of them as a nice place to visit - but wouldn't want to live there! You will no doubt have friends there that you can party with - and crash on their floor as necessary - but you will be popular to visit if you have AC - so the party may come to you!
