My understanding is that housing priority for freshmen is determined by the date you submit your housing deposit.

Any idea what date you need to have submitted your deposit by in order to have a good chance at getting your first choice?

If you haven’t applied to housing yet, you may be in for a surprise. That said, it is difficult to determine an exact date. From past experiences, just be happy that you obtained housing rather than your first choice.

Housing is becoming even harder to get with every day. The sooner you apply, the better. I luckily got one of the last apartments I could find when I started a few years ago and I think it was in April.

It really depends on how many students applied, and when. Like others said, you may as well get used to the idea of not getting your “First Choice” housing. Some housing is basically entire uppclassmen anyway, so you may as well start considering the staple freshman dorms as a reality: Jennings, Broward, Rawlings, and maybe Beaty if you’re at the head of the line. Not that those dorms are bad; I went from living in Hume (basically one of the nicest on campus, in my opinion!) to living in Jennings and I adored Jennings :)
