hahah yes well i actually used to go to shen. i go to a boarding school in NH now but i still have a lot of friends back at shen. im goin back home on the 11th for that weekend

oh man, you escaped... lucky you. we probably know some of the same people. whyd u go to boarding school anyway?

ummm i need a change in scenery. i cant stay in one place for more than like
4 years. im getting sick of this place right now too...you know some people at shen?

finally some support from the other perspective, the parent. As you can see, it's really just not done. Do your parents a favor by not making them live on your floor, and do yourself a favor by learning to adjust--if it's an issue for you--without having them 100s or 1000s of miles away (i.e. in a hotel in town).

oh yeah i know yun jung... we went to middle school together... shes one of my facebook friends. although i never use it. http://hs.facebook.com/p.php?id=1361640028&l=acfa789856
i believe that is my account. byee.

Sorry to bump this but are there any FAQs or anything on Orientation week on the Cornell website?

EDIT: http://www.newstudentprograms.cornell.edu/orientation/

Found that. So never mind :)

But, for those who are there, most students' parents don't stay that night? It sounds like it primarily concerns financial aid and health issues so since their stingy Finaid office didn't give my family anything and I have no health issues, there's no reason for them to stay right?

yeah, there really is nothing your parents have to do here. It's nice for them to tour campus and have a couple meals with you here and there, but other than that, it's really unneccessary. The whole fam (as opposed to just my dad) came up at Parents weekend, when i knew all about the campus and had fun experiences to relate, and it was a great time.

My dear husband is from India, and this is a true story. His sister-in-law's sister, who lives in India, sent her son to Connecticut College. When the boy was a senior, she came over for graduation a month early, and stayed with her son in his dorm room until the ceremonies were over. Nobody was at all put out about this.
So, Arjun, I kind of know where you're coming from. Too bad my kid was raised in the US of A, and will probably want me to get lost after he moves his stuff into his Cornell dorm room!
