Freshmen requirement for housing, and getting out of it

The school which I have already accepted to requires freshman to live in certified housing, be it dorms, frats, etc. However, I want to live in an on-campus 4 bed apartment, that is a) cheaper than the dorms, b) much better in every possible way, and c) does not require me to sign a one sided "contract." I know that most parents do not like freshman living in apartments, but my parents would prefer it over dorms.

Is there any possible way that I might get out of the requirement for freshmen housing

Well if they’re on campus apartments, how would they really be any different than dorms?

They are different because they are not “certified”.
My friends in the dorm talk about how the University wants to get the most out of the students, and all of the “certified” housing costs pretty much the same as the dorms.

Unless you have some medical reason or are married, I can’t really think of how you would be able to get out of it.

Living in the dorms has been one of the best experiences of my life. At least at UA, almost everyone who lives in the dorms is a freshman who wants to meet people and have fun. by isolating yourself from the rest of your classmates, you may be hindering your social life.

You get out of the requirement to live in the dorms only by providing evidence that you can’t reasonably do so. That you think you would like an apartment better just isn’t going to be enough.

Tell you what though, I never want to live in dorms again after this year, so I understand where you’re coming from. But anyways, just ask your school. We don’t know what the requirements are.

A medical or religious “reason” oughta do the trick quite nicely.

If you try hard enough, I’m sure you can do it. Usually there is an option to live with family by the school. Now I’m not saying you need to perjure yourself, but…

They’ll be unlikely to dig too deep into it if it’s a large university.

The only way I know is to live at home…whether you actually live at home or not.

Thanks for the suggestions.
It looks like I’ll be sending in my dorm housing app.
