recently i received a booklet in the mail labelled "Getting Started" for college of arts and sci students.
it discussed freshmen seminars, however it was somewhat ambigious to what exactly these seminars are. are they required for students in CAS? how many courses are required under such a program? im somewhat confused to how these seminars play into the undergraduate experience. can anyone explain it further?

also, does anyone have any recommendations for a particular program? i want to be a doctor, so naturally i find the Medicine and Society seminar to sound the most interesting. any other suggestions/comments?

Freshman seminars are not required, but they can be a great experience. Basically, it's a chance to be a really small class setting with some of WashU's greatest professors. It's not really a program; you can take as many or as few as you like. The catch is that they are only open to first year students, and they usually fill pretty quickly (due to the small class size of ~12 people, and their immense popularity).

Can anyone fill me in on the "Introduction to Problem-based Learning" seminar? It seems like a lot of fun. If those who have taken this class can share their insights/comments, that would be great. thnx.
