My friend has close to a 4.0 unweighted but hasnt taken any advanced classes while I have taken all the Ap/honors classes my school offers and have a 3.7 unweighted. Will my classes i chose look better than his 3.9ish with easy classes...this year his takin choir and JROTC and basic classes while Im takin AP and honors classes

Yes yours will be significantly better, GPA is great, but only when it's in the classes that are really challenging. Any selective college will take difficulty of classes into account.

yes, your's will definitely look better.

colleges see whether you are taking the classes that are more challenging. taking basic electives will not help much. some colleges don't even count those classes when recalculating your g.p.a.

top colleges want the 4.0 and all the APs. Below top 25 you'll be a strong candidate with a 3.7 and APs.

top colleges look at alot more than your grades and classes. If your extracurriculars are exceptional,y ou have a shot at the ivies.

my friend and i are both minorities and he thinks that because he is a minority with close to a 4.0 that he can get in anywhere, but this thread really helped

Are you trying to start some trite AA flame war? In the Princeton forum, you began a thread on the minimum stats of admitted African Americans. If creating another pointless debate on AA is your goal, I pity you. If not, ignore this. :)

im not tryin' to lol...i started the one in the priceton one because i was curious
