Would a low unweighted GPA (3.6+) hurt my app a lot even if I ranked in the top 10% of a top 50 public hs because of a high weighted GPA? Thanks

if your school beefs up grades beyond belief, than admissions are gonna be like
A) this guy's classes are really hard and therefore he gets a lot of credit for doing ok in them
or B) This guy's classes are like the rest of America's except they try to be better, which they aren't...

I doubt highly that they would think A. 3.61 is still great for a lot of schools though.

I guess you're right.
I'm still disappointed at myself for completely ruining my chance of admission to my dream school (literally just a dream school now)
Maybe they'll cut some slack for taking 14 AP classes and 4 extra self study AP exams, (I jumped into few AP classes without taking the prerequisite at school but self studying them during the summer.)

but... I think that I'll have a slim to none chance with that GPA.

18 AP tests?

.... You bastard. :p

haha. i hope that will somewhat make up for the gpa? if i get a couple of 800's on the SAT II's and near 2400 on the SAT, would that compensate for the GPA?

AP Tests actually can play a good role in admissions to some places...IF you get a 3 or above on all of them. The tests are a lot like college finals, so they, too, are a good indication of how a student studies for a big test, and ultimately how they'd do in college.

I ended up with a B in AP US history, so if I get a 5 on the AP exam, would colleges excuse me?
