Friends' ED results disheartening..

3 of my friends just got their Ed results back yesterday. All of them were outright rejected..I'm applying RD from Canada and these were quite discouraging news. Admittedly, I feel that my application is stronger than theirs, but by how much? My target schools are also more selective than theirs. If they were not even deferred, I'm worried about my chances of getting accepted.. ANYONE else feeling this way? Just thought I'd "rant" a little here...x.x

It was never specified, but are your friends also from Canada?

International admit rates are very depressing indeed. There’s nothing you can do about your application now, you’ve done your best.

As a side note, I feel that the “system” is fair. In the last two days, we’ve had three Ivy EDs get in, who all deserve to be in.

which schools, n0vad3mon? ;)

@n0vad, yes they are all from Canada (same school in fact)…There isn’t much I can do now but I’m starting to think that perhaps I should seek more “realistic” options…

Let the cards fall as they do, work hard but do not stress and everything will work out for the best.

skydancer017: We have one Columbia, one Cornell, and one Dartmouth!

Fatum: As long as you have safety and even match schools that you are confident in getting into and that you’ll be happy attending, you’re fine.

I’m interested in a couple schools in Canada, but there is something I don’t like about each one of them ;…

and while I’m at it…so many people say that it’s impossible to get in and starts listing people they know with super high scores who got rejected everywhere. urghh how do i react to that…

People are just ■■■■■■■■ and venting their frustration. Don’t take it too seriously! If you want an honest opinion, start a Chance Me thread at individual college forums at CC to see what people say.

thanks n0vad. If you guys don’t mind, feel free to take a look at my chance thread…

Aiming at Harvard with a 2160 and no stand out EC does mean you need to be prepared not to get in. Statistical odds spell that out. Yes, if you want to go to school in the US, you need to add some schools beyond the ivies.
