From Depaul to UChicago/NU

Hi, I'm new to the board and I'd like to read your input.

I'm currently a depaul freshman and hope to transfer in UChicago or Northwestern after my sophomore year. I'd really like to go to either of these schools. I've never applied to either of those schools as a senior in high school because I knew my ACT score (24) wasn't going to cut it, so I figured I'd try the best I can in college for two years.

I thought DePaul would be a good fit, but it hasn't been what I imagined. There some amazingly smart and passionate people here, but many who I question how they got here in the first place; a lot of arrogant, spoiled rich kids who still think this is high school (not that I don't expect in at UC and NU). Also, DePaul is primarily accredited as a business/law/theatre school. I hope to study creative writing, history, and relgious studies.

Ok, so here are my college stats as of now:
Dean's List
Member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS)
Participated in Amnesty International, DePaul AIDS project, Habitat for Humanity
Current G.P.A: 3.6

I'd appreciate any input...

I'll be the first to point out that NU and UChicago, while both quality universities in the Chicago area, are very different. Div. I vs. Div. III, preprofessional flavor vs. intellectual, and so on. Also bear in mind that it's not easy to be a junior transfer to Chicago with all those core requirements to complete. They may or may not give you useful (i.e. non-elective) credit. If spoiled people annoy you, though, you'd like the students at UChicago. They're less spoiled than most.

Your chances would be significantly affected by the rigor of your courseload.

"rigor"...you mean like being in the honors program? I'm not in the honors program, but that could have certainly helped. I'm taking bio, calculus, philosophy, and relgious ethics. so far, the lowest grade I've have was a "B"
