Hello, next month I will be leaving for college to Seattle, Washington. The problem is that I live in the east coast (in Massachusetts) and I am really overwhelmed by how the transition will go. For those of you who have already experienced such a far transition, I was wondering if it would be a good idea to travel by plane or would it be better by car and/or how difficult the transition would be and also if you could give me some info on how the east coast and the west coast differ.

Plane, I would definitely suggest plane. Unless driving for a week sounds like fun to you. Most schools also have rules about cars on campus, some want you to pay for spots, some simply disallow them for freshmen.

As for differences… I went from Maryland to California, the biggest difference I noticed was probably the weather. It’s always so sunny! But you’re farther north, so that won’t apply. It’s a new area, you’ll be lost for a little while, but the way people behave and such is the same pretty much anywhere you go.

Plane.

East coast to west coast is not a big deal. You are in the same country, same currency, same health insurance carrier, same cellphone carrier, same language, only 3 time zones difference.

Well, I can’t really say much about your two questions (sorry!) but I’m from Seattle, if you have anything specific about the city. :)

I think Seattle is a lot like east coast cities.
