From US News rank 41 to 48 :(

Everyone, just ignore this guy and report his posts as offensive. Simple.

"yeah...and uc sc is already sO behind...if it falls even more...
aahha....it;s gonna fall out of US news.."

Lmao, funniest comment of the thread.

Seriously tho guys, sandy and wuda, leave this poor kid alone. Were better than this. Ive done my fair share of arguing with the UCSB kids and Ive realized its completely pointless on the internet. Lets just go to our school which we, and every other student in Cali, know is amazing and have a good time. Our board is known for having an easygoing and "good-time" mood, so lets not spoil it by arguing with ignorant kids. C'mon now, lets just let this thread die..

[EDIT]^^Agreed.

yup agree
hehe^_^

UCSCrules (is this an oxymoron?) If you were going to see a doctor, would you rather a graduate from UC Davis Medical school or...oh right you don't have a med school.

Lets try a different approach.
If you were going to hire a lawyer would you prefer a graduate of King Law School or...oops you don't have a law school either....

You do have nice trees, and on several days of the year the long walk into town might be doable. We will enjoy our foot ball team, you enjoy your soccer team, Enjoy your school, I am sure you fit in well there...but you come off a little immature on the Davis site....am I right?

The new College of Biology will be a big plus to this campus...Go Aggies

I pity UCSCrules. Why? Well, look closer, there's a lot to pity. This individual clearly resents the fact that he is going to UCSC. Not just a little, but a lot. So much that he feels the need to post baseless and argumentative (and, frankly, stupid) posts intended to attack the reputation of other schools (and thereby, in his poor mind, degrade them to the level of how he feels about his school) on forums dedicated to those other schools in order to compensate for how he truly feels about his school. So much that he even denies and ignores clear facts that dismiss his sad argument.

I don't think we should degrade ourselves to his level and attack his school. UCSC is a fine institution in it's own right and, though it does not hold the reputation and quality of UCD, still deserves respect despite what some of its emotionally distressed students might indicate.

sitll UCSC attracts students of higher SAT scores than UCDavis

the fact that UCDavis has higher accepted SAT than UCSC but cannot attract stronger students means that UCDavis is a safety and behind UCSB UCSC and UCI in recruiting top students.

Actually, Harvard was my safety for UCSC, but unfortunately I got rejected at UCSC......Yep......guess I'm stuck with the IVY League. Oh, well......I'll hopefully lift up my GPA in Harvard so that I can transfer in two years. Can anyone offer me help in getting into UCSC from Harvard? I mean, I know it's a HUGE REACH, but I've got to have somewhat of a chance........Advice.....anybody?

^Perhaps you should seek wisdom from the great UCSCrules. He will help you to greatness.

Getting back to the post...a magazine sells copies based on interest...no one would buy it if the list stayed the same every year, they look for ways to alter the way their list is put together...sometimes schools look good because what they do was valued more one year than another...Davis is a respectable school in the top 50 by this list.....what you do while you are in the school will make a difference. There have been undergraduates from Davis and other UCs that have gotten accepted into top graduate programs sometimes over applicants from schools much higher up in the list. Davis has a graduate that is enrolled in Harvard Law school (along with many Harvard graduates) but...clearly there are some Harvard students who didn't get accepted....what does it mean.....You are in a credible school, what you do while there is what will determine where you go next. Remember your school reputation rises with your personal reputation! Good luck.

Mr. B. is absolutely right. My daughter is attending UCD ...her grades at her super competitive Orange County hs were so-so, but her SAT was 1450, and she was Student Body president (which contributed to so-so grades, as did four years of Mandarin as a non-native speaker). After having visited Davis and having become friends with many kids in the UCD class of 2009, she is thrilled to be at Davis. It is a quintessentially traditional college experience, from the charming small town, sports programs, Greek life, and huge diversity in the student body, as well as opportunities for internships, study abroad, breadth of available courses. It's a rock solid school that can yield an education valuable in every way. As Mr. B says, it's up to each UCD student to access and leverage what the school has to offer. My husband worked for the largest law firm in the world, and now, after a stint at Harvard Business School many years ago (to get out of law :)) he swears that the very best (and one of the most financially successful) attorneys he has ever worked with graduated from Cal State Long Beach. Make the most of it, and get to know the best and brightest in your class, because that will enrich your experience as well. All this carping about ranks is not productive or useful. Be excellent at UCD, and you can do whatever you want.
