UCSC catching upto UCDavis

UCSC had a huge rise in the rankings.
UCDavis had a huge fall in the rankings.

Suprisingly enough, UCSCs SATs were higher than UCDavis!

1050-1280 vs 1040-1280

any Aggies care to comment?

Also, UCSCs acceptance rate is in the 60s now, just like UCDavis

actually that was due to an error by the administration, in reality Davis is ranked around 40 not 48 which is 28 spots ahead of UCSC, but UCSC is moving up :-)

PS: Im a UC Davis student not UCI, I dont know how change my SN

UCSC has very high SAT scores. Two years ago, UCSC had higher SATs than UCI and UCSB, but not UCDavis. This year we have higher scores than UCDavis but not UCi and UCSB.

UCSC is consider a peer by applicants for UCSB/UCI/UCDavis

UCSC is definitely on the rise. Just wondering if you can give a link to your statistics.

this is from the actual USNews rankings. UCSC has higher scores than UCDavis. 1050-1280 vs 1040-1280

Oh yeah...MUCH higher. Are you for real?

"UCSC is consider a peer by applicants for UCSB/UCI/UCDavis"

Umm...I'd group UCSC along with UCR and UCM. However, out of those three, I like UCSC :)

wrong, how can u say that when UCSC has higher SATs over UCDavis on newest USNews magazine.

UCDavis is a school that is falling and UCSC rising.http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/images/icons/icon10.gif
Talking

There's a lot more to a school than average SAT...

of course.. SAt is just one measure

campus beauty, social atmosphere, job links and prestige are important too. SAT is just a measure of competency and strength of student body. The fact is that UCSC has higher avg SAT than UCD

While UCSC is rising,
I don't know about US NEWS stats, but these are the latest applicant stats from the uc site.

http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/undergrad_adm/selecting/camp_profiles/camp_profiles_ucd.html
http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/undergrad_adm/selecting/camp_profiles/camp_profiles_ucsc.html

The numbers clearly speak for themselves. UC Davis' admissions is also considered "Most Selective" for a reason.....Much like UCLA, Davis looks for the best rounded student as opposed to simply better SATs or GPAs which in my opinion puts Davis ahead of the other mid-tier UCs. US News has Davis as a flaw for this year(40th not 48th http://www.californiaaggie.com/article/?id=10027) and in fact some rank UC Davis 17th overall ahead of some IVYs and right behind Harvard... http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/features/2005/0509.collegeguide.html

UCSC is rising, but the stats show why the mid-tiers are grouped together.
Slugs.....give it time, you'll get there....

perhaps you should read USnews at a bookstore.

UCSC has higher printed SAT score according to USNews.
1050-1280 vs 1040-1280

FROM THE OFFICIAL UC SYSTEM WEBSITE. AVG. STATS FOR FALL 2004.

UC- DAVIS
High School GPA: 3.91
ACT Composite Score: 26
SAT I Score: 1247
SAT II Math (1C and 2C) Score: 639
SAT II Writing Score: 617

UCSC
High School GPA: 3.71
ACT Composite Score: 25
SAT I Score: 1199
SAT II Math (1C and 2C) Score: 599
SAT II Writing Score: 597

UCD had more applicants and admitted students with higher SATs (and other "competancy measures") on average. I guess that blows you're arguement UCSCrules. 1050 and 1040 in the 25th percentile category...not relevant.

"wrong, how can u say that when UCSC has higher SATs over UCDavis on newest USNews magazine"

WRONG? Who do you think you are telling me how I should view a school? It is my own personal opinion and opinions are neither right or wrong. And I could care less about which school has higher SAT scores. What are you so insecure about that you feel the need to boast about a reported 10 point difference?

The fact of the matter is UCSB, UCD, and UCI are grouped together. UCSC is not on par with them. Although it is a good school, it doesn't deserve to be grouped with those 3. Get over it.

It is not unreasonable to group UCSC since it has higher SATs than UCdavis and similar to UCI and UCSB. Now taht UCmerced is here UCSC is consider more prestigious.

Heres how UC's are grouped

Group 1
UC Berkeley
UCLA
UCSD

Group 2
UC DAVIS
UC IRVINE
UCSB

Group 3
UCR
UC Merced
UCSC

*notice how there grouped in 3's that means for UCSC to be apart of group 2 a school from Group 2 has to fall to group 3 (highly unlikely)

What you have to realise is that while UCSC is rising so are the other UC's

haha UCdavis is falling.
there is no logic behind 3 groups of three. it is convenient for your flawed logic but wrong anyway.

Most would say UCSd is not in group 1

group 1
Berkeley
UCLA

group2
UCSD

group4
UCI

group5
UCD
UCSB
UCSC

group6

UCR
UCM

UCSCrules...you're an international student from what country?

1,2,4,5,6

whoa what the heck happend to group 3, oh I see there SAT scores werent high enough to be mentioned lol

http://senate.ucsc.edu/Sassess/Image8.gif

UCSC used to be the highest SAT avg school
For all years before 1999 UCSC had higher SATs than UCI.
