I’m in FSAP right now and was awarded 3K in financial aid (the program costs $3500 in all). I would highly encourage attending this program if you get an offer like this. It would cost me more money to take these classes at my local community college.

Our son is also at FSAP and we don’t hear from him unless we initiate contact. Sons are very different from daughters. Thank you for the information. Our son is impressed with the intelligence of the other students. He spends a lot of time doing homework, or so he says. Did your daughter go to the city museum outing?

^ That’s exactly how I am. I’m usually not too interested in talking to my parents.

Everyone in FSAP went to the City Museum - it was mandatory.

The use of “mandatory” makes it seem like a bad thing, when in fact the City Museum is about the coolest, most fun place in St. Louis (outside of WUSTL of course) and the furthest thing from a museum!

Wherever I live in the United States when I’m older, I am going to take my kids to the City Museum… maybe even a birthday party? But definitely going.

Those who have not experienced City Museum have not truly experienced life yet. It’s that much fun.

Yes you’re right - going to the City Museum was by no means a chore. In fact, it was a lot of fun. I’m just saying we had to go there.

Heard from D that it was a great time at the City Museum. I had never heard of it before.

My S had a wonderful time at City Museum too. As I mentioned previously he has not contacted us much. However he did say he has had a lot of reading and writing. Don’t know what grades he received yet. Do you know if all the participants are meeting with their advisors over the summer and if this has been done already.

Also, he mentioned that about half the students are entering in January. Although I’ve seen a thread on the January program I am not quite sure what it is all about. Could any one enlighten me?

What I have heard is that they offer admission to a hand full of students in January. I guess they assume these kids will take the place of the hand full of freshmen who decide to leave after the first semester.

I believe there are 18 kids in FSAP who are in the January Program. Basically the students in the January Program take the fall semester off to do whatever they wish to do (maybe work, travel, etc.) and then they enter WashU for the first time in January for the spring semester. Because the J-Prog students will essentially be roughly 15 credits behind due to skipping the first semester, FSAP is a good way for these students to get 6 credits so they are still on track to graduate in 4 years.

What social activities are planned for this weekend?

Skyzone and 80s Rollerskating
