Does anyone know how we are getting our decisions on whether we are accepted into the Thematic Option or Freshman Science Honors? Are they sending letters or is there somewhere we can find out online? The letter I initially got said they would get back to us by April 2.

Hey,
I just found out that i got the Trustee, but I never got an invitation to apply for TO! Is it too late?? Can I apply when I get there? Thanks :-)

Try to call them and submit your TO application asap, today (Friday)

It may be after the deadline, but they may be flexible if you tell them that you just got the trustee and that made you want to come to usc/do TO

If not, they'll just put you on the waiting list. I know some people who got into TO from the waiting list during orientation last year :) It will probably be the same next year.

alright, well, i went on a conference yesterday with some usc peeps, and they say that fsh decisions were going to be sent today, so hopefully we find out tomorrow! ^shedoesntgetit, they say that fsh basically provides more of a social environment, the main thing being closer interaction with your professor and your peers in a smaller classroom. the honor curriculum's also more challenging in the fsh program: the chem professor said that rather than just learning to solve problems, students take concepts more in-depth and learn their applications. for me, that's a great advantage :)

My daughter received an invitation to the College Honors Society (CHS). She had been invited to, and applied for, Thematic Option (TO). The booklet says that CHS members are drawn from different academic programs, including TO.

Is there a connection between CHS and TO? Does "we invite you to CHS" imply "No TO for you"? I guess this will all be cleared up in a few days, but in case someone knows, I'd be curious.

I believe that CHS is more of a general honors society, with no classes, but rather activities for Honors students. It is the common thread of all the honors programs, the trunk of the honors tree, I guess you could say, with the various honors programs as the branches. Sorry, that was a bad analogy. Basically, your D can be in both. :)

I think CHS is for members of TO, FSH, and Bac/MD. I think being invited to it means that you were accepted to one of the programs... but don't quote me on that.
