Hi. Just wondering if my Son can transfer his high school AP credits to his FSU college credits in order to have 28 credits to keep his continuing 21st Century Scholarship. He will have 27 credits by the end of Spring semester. He is a freshman already in college. I'm going to call the financial aid office in the morning, but just thought I'd ask on here too. Thanks in advance.

Did he not send his AP scores to FSU?

The best answer I can give is this:
During my senior year, I didn’t take any AP exams, as I was an IB student. For my Junior year, I had sent my AP scores elsewhere, so FSU only had on record my sophomore AP scores and my IB test scores. A few weeks into my first semester, I was able to take my AP Score Report (the thing that you get mailed with your scores listed on it) and someone in I think the Admissions office (I could be wrong, I forget who I had to talk to about this) was able to copy the score report and add the classes to my FSU profile and give me the credit for the classes that I hadn’t already received.

I would contact the admissions office and see if that is possible. Alternatively, you could contact the College Board and see if they can send a copy of your son’s scores to FSU (this will cost a few bucks though). That way FSU will receive them and he SHOULD receive credit for them (if you don’t know where his score report is, this is probably the more likely option).

I remember it was a really quick and easy process; it took less than 5 minutes and I was in and out, and within about 2 days I had the credits added to my FSU transcript. Keep in mind though I did this a couple years ago and policies might have changed since then.

Ok, thanks for the reply. I’m pretty sure FSU has all of his scores from his H.S. transcript. Did you have to go in the financial aid office and ask them to add the credits?

I went to the office and asked to speak with someone that would know about adding AP test credit that was missing from my transcripts, and they had me speak to a really nice lady about it. She was really helpful and basically just copied my test scores and entered them into the computer while I waited. It took less than 5 minutes.

Thanks. Much appreciated.
