FSU Fall 2022 Admission - Class of 2026

Thanks for this information! FSU just moved up on our list with the current rankings and OOS tuition waiver. Can you elaborate a bit on the surrounding area of Tallahassee? How far away is the downtown area? We plan to visit in April to check out the campus and area. Thanks in advance!

I wish his Advisor did that at his HS! Still waiting on a response. He had to submit his current grades for them to process the request

Not yield protection. Plenty of my friends with high SAT and low GPA have been deffered. Think 1480 - 1520 SATā€™s. They just care way more about GPA it seems .

I was accepted at FSU into the Honors Program with Bright Futures and the Vires Scholarship! It is my top choice in-state so I couldnā€™t be happier.

can anyone explain how we can find out what D23ā€™s FSU GPA would be?
sheā€™s out of state; a junior, has FSU on her radar, but we donā€™t quite know or understand how to calculate GPA

she has an unweighted 4.0 as of now; but is at a small school that has only 3 AP classes; and a few dual-credit classes. we are worried her weighted wonā€™t be high. but we canā€™t really help that, right?

so any info on this would be so helpful!

I have posted this previously in this thread, but reposting since it is a little buried. This is the information included in the Bulletin:

Calculation of High School Academic GPA

Only the academic core subjects will be used in the calculation of the grade point average for admission purposes. We do not use the GPAs listed on the high school transcript or report card. Grades of ā€œCā€ or better in dual enrollment, AICE, AP, and IB coursework will be weighted and receive one point in the recalculation; grade of ā€œCā€ or better in honors, pre-AICE, pre-AP, and pre-IB coursework will receive one half point. For repeated courses, we will use all attempts in the recalculation.

D21 was accepted with 29 ACT and 3.5 GPA last year. She was the only one from her HS to be admitted. There were at least 2 other students she knows of that were denied with better stats. I still think they yield protected and accepted those who will most likely attend. Iā€™m also of the opinion that there will be a good number of admits pulled from the deferral list. This new deferral tactic is straight out of the Georgia playbook.

I am shocked your child wasnā€™t admitted. Crazy year, once again.
D22 admitted. 35 ACT. 4.8 GPA. Lots of DE courses, service, athletics and leadership.

We are in state, national Merit finalist. Itā€™s not her first choice by far but itā€™s her first full COA offer. She received an email saying she is invited to interview for presidential scholarship April 1-2. Iā€™m curious, if she is awarded presidential scholars would they alot her some of that money as a travel stipend or allow her to use it for necessities since her other costs are covered? Sheā€™s pre med and has already been accepted to some stronger pre med campuses with nice size merit scholarships but having a little excess to travel and pursue opportunities might make a difference. Do you know anything about how those awards might stack?

Of course! Tallahassee is the capital of FL and Florida State is located right in the middle. Youā€™re about a 5 minute drive to the capital building and all the fun activities surrounding it. Students can drive 30 mins to the greenways, an hour and a half to the beach, 45 mins to southern Thomasville, GA and lots of other incredible locations. Everything is very central and located around the university and youā€™ll never get bored but are also always very safe. PLEASE visit and soak in the FL sunshine because I promise you youā€™ll be sold. The people also make the university what is it!

@Mom22kd FSU allows you to stack Presidential money on top of Benacquisto. The extra money is deposited in the studentā€™s bank account, to use however they want.

Thank you for that information! I like FSU. We are planning on exploring a lot more.

Hi, My Son is also a Sport Management major and FSU, NC State and UofSC are his top 3. FSU was his top and I hope it still is, Iā€™m just a little disappointed they donā€™t have an admitted students day. He went to the NC State one and is scheduled for the UofSC one, and I think the day on campus with other admitted students really makes a difference. I think FSU is best choice for him, so Iā€™m hoping it stays at the top of his list. We are from NJ, where are you all from?

Congrats!! Thatā€™s quite an accomplishment

We are from Pittsburgh, PA! I was also hoping for an admitted students day, but we are going to visit again soon to see what the campus is like when students are there (we visited last summer). FSU is currently my sonā€™s top choice, but heā€™s still considering UMich, UGA and OSU. I do think FSU is the best fit for him (although the farthest of all of his choices).
Have you followed any of the Twitter or other social media accounts for FSUā€™s sport management program? I have been impressed - they recently had an on-campus conference, have an active student association, etc.
Heā€™s definitely going to sign up for the FSU housing lottery this week. Maybe our sons will end up in the same program!

Yes, I have been impressed with their programs/clubs/social media as well. We are planning to visit again as well but Iā€™m hoping to make it a little more meaningful than just the typical campus tour because we did that last fall. I saw in another post that your son got into Honors, My son did as well. I am hoping to reach out to Honors this week to see if we come down for another campus tour if we could set up an information session for Honors as well and maybe talk to an honors student as well as set something up with the Sport Management advisor. Would be great if we were down there at the same time. We are also doing the housing sign up this week. My son has OSU on his list but we havenā€™t visited, I havenā€™t heard much about the ā€˜Sport Industryā€™ major there, do you know if itā€™s good?

All are good schools. I would go with where the cost (Tuition+ Fees+ Room + Board) would be the lowest and if you have been admitted to the same/similar major. Also, if scholarships are provided what the conditions to maintain those are. For example, some require 3.0 GPA and some might even require as high as 3.5.
On a different note - Alabamaā€™s campus is probably the most beautiful campus I have seen and seems quite safe. FSU campus is also nice and a very functional layout. FSU also seems very safe.
