Oh and make sure to do UROP if they can. Great opportunity for research and to get to know a faculty member well.
Yes! UROP is incredible! My daughter is a UROP leader and loves working with younger students on their research. Very cool program!
Hi,
Azalea and Magnolia are the newest and regarded as the best. Azalea has restaurants underneath it!
The next best 2 are Deviney and Dorman (relatively new)
Then Landis/Gilchrist (LOCATION)
Broward/Bryan/Cawthon/Jenny
Wildwood (location is kinda eh but equal to above)
Salley (do not live in Salley, it needs to be demoād)
My daughters housing lottery number is in the 600s, would she be able to get into one of the top dorms?
How does the housing lottery work for honors students?
I think they have a room in Landis Hall or GilChrist Hall even if they have to register them to the housing lottery as regular students.
Where did you find her housing lottery number?
She found it when she logged in Friday night to check. Not sure actually where itās at, but it should be there when they log in. There is not an email sent. Itās only if you registered for housing on the 23rd or 24th and the student signed the contract. You then had 7 days to send the parent contract (if needed) and pay the deposit. If you donāt do those things, you lose the lottery #. Realistically, she is probably going to end up closer to somewhere in the top 300, once students that donāt do those things, or do not commit get removed.
Thanks. Weāve done everything, but Iām not sure whether the parent contract has cleared yet. She is still undecided on a school, but I know it is a necessity to get into the on-campus housing list early. It is such a better system than 5 years ago when it was simply based on who could get logged in the fastest.
I agree. She was shocked to get such a good number. Housing is important to her, so even though sheās not 100% decided yet, we went ahead and did what we needed to to get her a spot. I will say that the FSU housing is definitely better than her options at UF, which is a big factor in her decision making process. Coming from out of state with no ties to either school makes it tough though.
I just read on FSU 2026 parents Facebook page there was a glitch in the housing contract numbers, so they have been removed. Iām so bummed since my son had a great number! Hopefully he still will when they fix it.
@HCAllred hi. Iām not on Facebook. Did it say what the issue was with the contract numbers? We did the contract on the first 2 days, but it said you could pay within 7 days. And then I found out my friends were getting contract numbers on Feb 25th which didnāt make since. The email and site said you just had to do the contract and not pay for 7 days so it really wasnāt clear or fair. So as soon as my friends said they got a number, I went in and paid and got my number. My number was around 1400. Maybe they are fixing it because it definitely didnāt say you had to pay to be completed for the lottery. Iām actually probably not going to attend because I ended up getting into a direct nursing program, but it did seem unfair. Thanks for letting me know any other info.
This is what was postedā¦
FYI: Apparent Housing Glitch
It has come to our attention that there appears to be a glitch in the housing contract system resulting in contract numbers being assigned out of sequence. At this point it seems all housing contract numbers have been removed from the portal. We have no additional information at this time.
A member of our Admin Team has reached out to Housing and we are awaiting a response (which will likely come tomorrow).
As soon as we have official information from the University we will share it here. In the meantime, we will not be approving posts, or allowing comments, related to this matter.
I got a number on the 25th, but it is gone now. I didnāt pay yet.
Thank you. Thatās weird. I didnāt have a number on the 25th and then after I paid I got one right away. Same with my cousin. Something must be wrong with their system.
Did you check to see if itās still there?
FSU admissions told me all dual enrollment courses count?
Wow! Thanks so much for this information!
And be aware that Degraff is on the north side of Tennessee Street. There is a tunnel under Tennessee Street to the main part of campus.
Looks like housing lottery numbers are back. My sons didnāt change, thank goodness
