Fsu, Michigan State,Indiana!!! Help me

If I was offered in-state tuition at Florida state(total cost around 15,000) offered 11,000 dollars from Michigan state(total cost around 38,000) and was offered direct admit for Kelley school of business and 8,000 dollars (total cost around 39,000) where should I go?! I plan on majoring in accounting. I would like to move to Florida after college, and have a big 4 accounting job. What is the best path to get me there!?!

Given the fact that you want to work in Florida after you graduate, I would go with FSU at $15k. Kelley is the best business school but both FSU and MSU have good programs as well and for accounting I am sure FSU will serve you well. Good luck!

For accounting? FSU is the easy choice (based on cost and that you want to move to Florida). The big 4 all actively recruit at FSU (as well as at the other two schools!).

Here’s a list of employers at the January career fair. You can sort the list by major (accounting).

So going to a higher ranked school in the Midwest Indiana (nationally known) would not be as helpful as going FSU(more regional)?

Also do you think going to FSU for undergraduate and UF for graduate would be a good option?

There is enough demand for accountants/CPA’s in Florida, that graduating from Kelly (which is a great school), would not make much of a difference in job outlook (or pay). It’s in no way worth the extra $25K a year, especially if you’re looking for a position in Florida.

I’m no expert on the requirements for a CPA, but I would think getting your hours in at FSU (vs transferring to UF) would be fine. It’s not something you really need to worry about now.

But say I’m talking to a big 4 in Florida(for example Ernst Young in Boca Raton) would they rather hire a FSU or Indiana grad?

Some schools place regionally, others place nationally meaning some schools will basically place in their local market while others will put a student where ever s/he wants based upon availability. If your local market is FL (if that’s where you want to be) FSU and UF will place very well. If you want to be in Chicago, they’ll have less interest as Chicago is recruited by schools in that area and schools the Big 4 consider national based on what they perceive is important.
It also depends on what practice you’re shooting for. They all do Assurance / Audit. Some markets have Advisory or Financial Transactions Services ( which is more business valuation / M&A work than typical auditing). They tend to fill those spots with kids who specialize in those areas even if they come from other regions of the country.

It also depends on you. If you’re a rock star, you’ll have more options. (My college roommate was recruited by the Boston PwC office and was allowed to choose among several cities. They must have known what they were doing as he’s a F100 CFO now - he would tell you public accounting was the best foundation he could have).

Best of Luck.

WOW!

Thank you that was a great explaination
