We’d love to know more about FSU’s satellite campus in Panama City, FL. How many students attend there? Campus life? (Are there any dorms or student housing?) Sports? Clubs / orgs? Party scene? Do professors seem to have a political bent in either direction? TIA!
My S goes to FSU Panama City Campus. There is no dorm and apartments are very limited.
There will be housing in the future but it may take a couple of years. It is a smaller campus, maybe 6,000 students? That’s a guess. And housing here is miserable due to Hurricane Michael. The CAT 5 storm wiped out much of the housing and over a year later the town is still a mess. FSU-PC has a very nice campus and the classes are much smaller and that is a big plus. There are quite a few clubs at the school and lots of activities. As for sports, there are none that I know of unless you make the road trip to Tally.
Actually just saw on the news that housing will be ready August 2021.
PANAMA CITY — After five years of exploring the possibility of bringing student housing to Florida State University-Panama City, it appears the project is likely to materialize.
On Tuesday, FSU-PC Dean Randy Hanna presented the housing project plan at a Panama City Commission meeting, where the first public hearing for a campus development agreement between the city and the campus was held.
“It’s something our community has been asking for and I believe it will be beneficial to both FSU and Gulf Coast (State College),” Hanna said. “It’ll be a good day. Our students are very excited about this.”
Gulf Coast State College students will also be able to rent at the complex, he noted.
The drawing showed a 28,000-square-foot structure located at the waterfront side of the university. The structure will include 132 rooms with 400 beds. The drawings also showed space for a range of campus-life accommodations, including a pool, gazebo, fire pit, gas barbecue grill and space for hammocks and sand volleyball.
