I really want to transfer FSU next Summer or Fall and i know there are certain deadlines to be met. I am sophomore at Webber International University, I do not have my AA but i will have 60+ credits by the end of my spring semester(junior applicant). I want to major in Computer Criminology and i know they have a great program at Florida State. My first semester in college really set me back but i'm working hard and very serious about my studies (taking extra courses, doing CLEP exams). What my real question is, if I meet the requirements, have 60 credits, and a 3.0 GPA will I have a good chance of being accepted?

(Pasbal please offer your expertise)

Oh my friend is starting spring term at FSU from TCC and had received he's AA and had a 2.4 GPA and got in

How close will you be to getting your AA at the end of spring? If you are only a class or two short, and can feasibly get your AA during the summer, you should do that (you can put it on your application that you would then be expecting your AA in the summer, although if you didn’t get it any potential acceptance could be rescinded).

Computer Criminology isn’t limited access so you would probably have a good shot at being accepted with that profile. :)

Unfortunately Webber doesn’t offer an AA degree in my major CIS, which I was saddened about. I’m not sure how close I am, but i’d have to backtrack and take additional classes; i’d presume it’s more than 2 or 3 I’m really scared because the AA degree seems like the easiest admission gateway for transfer students. But I will have 60 hours of transferable credit and good GPA, Pasbal please tell me you’ve known students that have had the just the credits and got admitted! lol

If you are open to another opinion, here’s mine. I think that if you don’t have an AA degree, FSU will use your high school stats for admission purposes, or at least your SAT/ACT scores.

Is there any way for you to get an AA degree that is not specific to your major?

No they won’t, I will be a Junior applicant and once I have 60 credits I don’t have to submit any high school info.

“Junior/Senior-Level Applicants
Junior and senior applicants (60 or more semester hours of transferable credit as determined by the Office of Admissions) must:
Have at least a 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) cumulative grade point average (GPA) on all college work attempted.
Have at least a 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) on all college work attempted at the last institution.”

And No, Associates Degree has to be specific to a major (Accounting, Business, Management, Marketing, etc) :(

Sorry, I wasn’t sure about that, I have friends that looked into transferring but were told they needed to retake ACT/SAT if they didn’t have their AA.

The key with that, is 60 hours of transferable credit. Just because you have 61 credits doesn’t mean that all of it will necessarily transfer to FSU. You may end up having to send in high school information anyway if you’re close to 60 hours.
