FSU's Biomedical Enginering

Any current or past FSU biomed engineer majors here? Im interested in possibly taking this with a premed track. How was the coursework and if you are in med school now, how well did it prepare you? Thanks in advance

Bump… Im interested too :-P

I am a pre-med Biology major, but my roommate is a Chemical Engineering major and my suitemate is a Biomedical Engineering major. The general opinion I have gotten from them (and from others in the engineering track) is that all engineering majors are very difficult.
FSU’s engineering program is prestigious and competitive, and since the engineering field’s relatively high salary has attracted many gold diggers, they feel the need to “weed out” those who are not willing to put in the commitment, similar to how pre-med classes have done for the past several years. Biomedical engineering combines the rigor of an engineering major with the workload of a biology major, so it is quite the challenging program. On the other hand, if you successfully get through it with a respectable GPA, you have a bit of an upper hand on those who chose to go along the “easier” path (such as me with my Bio major).
Keep in mind that all engineering majors are extremely long and most engineering freshmen I have met have aimed to finish in 5 years if they take classes every summer. If you want to go to medical school after 4 years like most people, this is probably not the major for you.

I hope you like Chemistry…and I don’t mean that to be funny.

thanks for the info peg! and im ok with chemistry, i got straight A’s in my chem honors class (dont offer ap at my school)
