FSU's Wetherell praises Gov Crist for support of tuition bill

Florida State University President T.K. Wetherell praised Gov. Charlie Crist's team-building efforts in bringing together Florida's public university presidents to work together to fund higher education. He also applauded the governor's decision to allow the differential tuition bill to become law.

"We appreciate Governor Crist's clear support of higher education in Florida. We applaud his decision to allow the differential tuition bill to become law and thereby help our state's universities continue to work toward ever-increasing quality. Governor Crist asked us to work together as a team in facing the challenges of funding public higher education, and we look forward to working with him and the Legislature," Wetherell said, after Governor Crist met with him and the presidents of the other 10 state universities on Wednesday.

The differential tuition bill will allow Florida State University, the University of Florida and the University of South Florida to increase tuition as much as 15 percent a year more than the levels set for the state's other eight public universities.

Under the bill, tuition at FSU and UF would be capped at 40 percent higher than the rest of the universities and at 30 percent more for USF.

The three schools will not impose the new tuition rates until Fall 2008.

So...does this mean FSU won't reduce the number of freshmen they admit for the fall of 2008?

Hmmm...I wonder if my letter to Gov. Christ helped ; )

I don't think anyone knows yet.

Thanks for your support of FSU!
