[Admission Statistics | Columbia University Office of Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.studentaffairs.columbia.edu/admissions/applications/stats.php)

SEAS overall rate = 14.4%
CC overall rate = 8.9%

(by overall rate I mean the rate for applicants regardless or whether they applied early or regular)

^^That is a noticeable difference in acceptance rate, but the seas applicant pool is self-selective (like most engineering schools around the country), for admitted students, seas SAT scores and % of high school students in the top 10% of their high school class is higher than Columbia college, because seas gets a much smaller proportion of under-qualified applicants. So comparing acceptance rates is comparing apples to oranges. Basically don’t get your hopes up by looking at the acceptance ratio.
